Honduras sorts foreign nationals into three visa categories: exempt, consular visa and consulted visa (the last one needs prior approval from the National Migration Institute, INM). The category for each nationality is unconfirmed. It is also unclear whether the immigration pre-check is currently mandatory. Spain and Canada say their citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. The United Kingdom says British citizens do need one, except for the «short pass» given to cruise passengers while the ship is docked, and that they get a 30-day stamp on arrival. The immigration officer sets your stay when stamping your passport: according to Canada, its citizens are not guaranteed 90 days. Make sure your passport is stamped at every entry and exit. On passport validity, the United Kingdom asks for at least six months after arrival and two blank pages; Canada, six months from entry; and Spain says the Honduran authorities require six months. Honduran media quoted an INM reminder in March 2026 that mentions at least three months. Canada adds that customs may ask for a return or onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds. Honduras belongs to the CA-4 agreement with Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. Canada tells Canadian tourists that they can move between the four countries for up to 90 days, which are not granted automatically: the officer at the first entry point into the region sets the stay. They must go through immigration and get a stamp at every crossing, and can ask the INM for an extension of up to 30 days, at the authorities' discretion and paying the fee before their authorised stay expires; Honduras recognises a maximum of 120 days in total for them. The United Kingdom notes that within the CA-4 you must go through immigration checks at borders and that British citizens need a visa for Honduras. A page of the Honduran consulate in Madrid mentions «90 days extendable by another 90»; that figure is unconfirmed and does not set the rule for other nationalities. If you overstay, you will have to pay a fine at the INM or at the exit point before you can leave (Spain, United Kingdom). The age of majority in Honduras is 21 (Canada). Minors travelling alone or with only one parent need a notarised authorisation in Spanish from the parent or parents not travelling; Canada says it must be authenticated by the Honduran authorities before arrival, and Spain that it must be apostilled if signed before a Spanish notary or police. You must fill in the Customs Regional Traveller Declaration online when entering and leaving the country and show its QR code, on paper or on your phone (United Kingdom, Canada and Spain). It is a separate procedure from the immigration pre-check, and how far in advance it can be filled in is unconfirmed. When entering by land, the immigration authorities may charge foreign nationals with an ordinary passport a fee of 3 US dollars in cash; keep the receipt until you leave (United Kingdom; Canada also says to keep it and Spain calls it a «migration services fee»). The departure tax on international flights ranges from 40 to 55 dollars depending on the airport and is normally included in the ticket; if it is not, it is paid at the airport (United Kingdom, Spain).
