Central America, one guide per country
asesordeviaje.com is an independent travel guide to the seven countries of Central America, written for travellers who plan their own trip: what there is to do, what it costs and what to know before you go in Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.
Each country has its own guide, divided into destinations. Every destination gathers its places, from national parks and beaches to museums and markets, on a map and in themed guides, and each place shows whether it is open, closed, restricted or seasonal, and its entry fee when there is one. Save the places you like to My trip, arrange them day by day and share the plan with a link. It stays in your browser, and in your account too if you sign in with your email.
Not sure where to start? On a first trip, La Fortuna & Arenal is one of the easiest bases in Costa Rica, with trails, a waterfall, hanging bridges and hot springs close together. For cloud forest, head to Monteverde; for rainforest canals explored by boat, Tortuguero. For the beach, Manuel Antonio puts rainforest right next to pale-sand beaches, and Guanacaste has calm beaches for swimming. Travelling on a budget? Begin with the Guanacaste places that are free or almost free.
Every place entry is prepared from official and other published sources, such as the websites of parks, museums and tourism bodies, and shows its source and the year it was last reviewed.
