A colonial cathedral built between 1650 and 1715. Its tower holds a weight-and-gear clock that, according to La Prensa, is of Arab origin (around the year 1100) and the oldest in the world; Visit Honduras presents it as one of the oldest in the Americas.
Status not confirmed: La Prensa toured the churches in the centre in April 2025, more than a year before this check, and no later confirmation of visits or of the conditions for climbing the clock tower was read. Check before you go.
