A national park since 1997, with 11,943 ha in Siquirres and Matina (Limón) and Turrialba (Cartago), according to SINAC. It has two trails: Los Gavilanes, about 330 m and easy, and the one to the Dantas River and its waterfalls, about 5.5 km round trip and of medium to high difficulty.

- SINAC publishes US$5.65 for foreigners, VAT included, and ₡1,130 for national adults and ₡565 for national children under 12; the page is undated (consulted on 5 October 2026). It is paid at the park, in small-denomination cash or by card. Check before you go.

- According to SINAC, it receives visitors from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; for the Dantas River trail you must arrive between 8:00 a.m. and noon. The page is undated.

- For the Dantas River walk you must book ahead by phone and go with a local guide, hired directly; the park provides the contacts, according to SINAC.
Tip: The Dantas River trail has very muddy stretches and you have to cross the river to reach the waterfalls: SINAC recommends rubber boots or shoes that can get wet, insect repellent and sunscreen. Only snacks are allowed, and coolers, pets, alcohol and single-use plastics are not.
