    Tip: Julio Pacheco, head of lifeguards at the Salvadoran Red Cross, included Barra de Santiago among the areas with the most water emergencies, according to Infobae (31 March 2026). Swim where there are lifeguards and follow their instructions; that does not guarantee safety.
